The Real Wine Drinking Guide: Terroirs East Dulwich
Terroirs’ south-eastern cousin opened its doors in November 2017 and has been serving up natural wines and contemporary-classic Pan-European bistro dishes ever since.
Spanning two rooms; a split-level bistro with bar and restaurant pass at the back, and a separate space which doubles as a wine shop. The bistro is dotted with wine paraphernalia of all descriptions, wine themed posters adorn the walls and special bottles from tastings gone by deck shelves.
A super relaxed atmosphere predominates where one can happily sip a glass of something natural and nibble top draw charcuterie, cheese or cicchetti (Italianate bar snacks). Of course, if you fancy something more substantial you can sit down to a selection of small or larger plates, to be shared, or enjoyed all by oneself. Seasonal to the core, there’ll almost always be homemade fresh pasta, seafood and seasonal vegetable dishes on offer.
The wine list is driven by small, artisan growers who work sustainably (often organically or biodynamically). The wines invariably are the product of minimal intervention in the winery and seldom see filtering, fining or added sulphur. The by the glass list is always varied and changes regularly, with something orange always featuring.
If you’re just passing by there’s also an extensive range of bottles on sale as well as wine on tap (just bring along your own containers and away you go!).
Producers we love: Andreas Tscheppe, Pierre Frick, Olivier & Baptiste Cousin, Vino di Anna, Nathalie Briseau, Kelly Fox, Catherine Riss, Gut Oggau to name but a few (we could probably go on all day).
We really like: Supper Clubs. Often inspired by a particular cuisine, theme or festivity, the food is always paired expertly with local/regional vinous delights!
Do: Come along to their Wednesday evening tastings. The theme changes week-on-week but the passionate, incredibly knowledgeable Tasting Tour Guides are unwavering in their enthusiasm.
